OUR WORK
YOUTH AND WOMEN EMPOWERMENT
The HWC-Kenya Youth Empowerment Center serves as a dynamic community hub dedicated to fostering personal growth, skill development, and social empowerment for women and youth. The center is designed to provide access to essential resources, mentorship, and training opportunities, enabling individuals to unlock their potential and contribute meaningfully to their communities.
1. TAILORING
The center provides a comprehensive program aimed at teaching valuable tailoring skills to both youth and women, empowering them with the knowledge and expertise to succeed in the fashion and garment industry. Students learn how to create custom clothing, alter garments, and develop their own designs, which opens up opportunities for personal expression, employment or entrepreneurship. By offering these classes, the center not only fosters practical skills but also encourages economic independence and the development of a creative mindset, helping individuals build confidence and potentially launch their own businesses in the fashion industry.
2. HOSPITALITY AND TOURISM
The center’s hospitality and tourism management course is specifically tailored to support and empower women and young individuals, preparing them for success in the fast-glowing hospitality sector. This comprehensive program covers a wide range of topics including culinary skills, customer service, event planning, leadership and management skills, tourism marketing and cultural diversity. Trainees gain practical skills, industry insights, and hands on experience, enabling them to excel in various roles within the hospitality industry. By focusing on women and youths the course, aims to address gender and age disparities, ensuring equal opportunities and promoting diversity in the work force. With a strong foundation in both theoretical and practical aspects of hospitality management, trainees are well equipped to pursue successful careers or entrepreneurial ventures in this dynamic field.
We have successfully empowered a total of 124 youth and women through our skills development and economic inclusion initiatives. Within this broader outreach, 65 beneficiaries were enrolled in Hospitality and Tourism Management training, forming our first and second structured cohort.
38 trainees have successfully completed Cohort One and have progressed to the practical phase of their training and are currently undertaking industrial attachments in leading 4- and 5-star tourist hotels across Kenya.
Beyond training, we take a holistic approach by actively linking youth to employment and career opportunities within the hospitality and tourism industry, ensuring that skills gained translate into real income-generating pathways and sustainable livelihoods.

3. MENTORSHIP
The center is dedicated to empowering young individuals by offering a dedicated space equipped with resources and tools designed to foster their creative potential. The center allows youth to engage in various content creation activities, such as video production, digital art, music, writing, and poetry. By providing access to professional-grade equipment, mentorship and supportive environment, the center helps nurture their skills, enabling them to create and share their work with a wider audience. This opportunity serves as a stepping stone for their future careers in the creative industry or a platform for self-expression and skill development.
4. Poultry Farming for Dignified Livelihoods
Humanity for Women and Children in Kenya (HWC-Kenya) runs a model poultry farm that empowers youth and women with practical skills in poultry production and agribusiness. Through hands-on training, participants learn best practices in rearing, feeding, disease control, and marketing, enabling them to start and sustain their own income-generating activities.
The poultry farm also serves as an income-generating initiative for HWC-Kenya, with proceeds supporting community programs and enhancing the organization’s sustainability. This initiative promotes economic independence, food security, and resilience, helping vulnerable households build sustainable livelihoods while reducing unemployment in the community.
